2009 Bid for Hope Event1882 viewsBen looks intently at a football trying to figure out where to put his signature!
Ben and several of his teammates came out in support of Heath Miller and his wife Katie for the "Bid for Hope" event that took place on October 19, 2009.
According to Diana Napper, the event coordinator, they raised $125,000 towards Breast Cancer Research. Said Diane, "We just purchased camera equipment for Hillman Cancer Center and are waiting to make a contribution to the 'Under 40 study'."
*Thank you to Ms. Napper and the photographer, Mr. Yon for allowing me to post the photo.

2014 Bid for Hope event675 viewsHeath Miller’s 2014 Bid for Hope event took place last night at Off the Hook in Warrendale, PA. The event, for the Glimmer of Hope Foundation, has raised over $1.6 million in it’s 13 years. Proceeds benefit the organization’s “Under-40 Breast Cancer Studyâ€.
Ben and several of his teammates not only attended the event to show their support for this worthwhile cause, but sat down to sign autographs for those in attendance!
Thumbs up! Teresa Varley snapped this photo at the autograph table of Big Ben, Bruce Gradkowski, and Lance Moore – obviously enjoying themselves!
You can read her story on the event, see photos and a video all right here:

December 18, 2007 - The Hines Ward Show1670 viewsFrom the article in KDKA: There was a special guest at Tuesday's taping of the PNC Hines Ward Show.
But we aren't just talking about Ben Roethlisberger.
It was one of Big Ben's biggest fans: an 8 year old boy with a devastating illness who met his idol.
But Roethlisberger says the inspiration goes both ways.
To say it was an opportunity of a lifetime is an understatement for Joseph DeBacco, who was only given a 10 to 15 percent chance to live, when he found out he would be meeting his idol Ben.
"I want to have him sign my jersey and I feel awesome," said 8 year-old cancer patient Joseph DeBacco.
Joseph was all smiles anticipating his face-to-face meeting with Ben.
Ben says kids like Joseph are his inspiration as well.
"You sit there and think about how sore am I today and complain about practice," said Roethlisberger. "He's a hero to me."
