June 3, 2010 - Ben addresses the media905 viewsBen's statement:
"I know you guys have been waiting to talk to me, and I have to you. I just want to let you guys know how good it is to be back on the field. It’s been a long time away. It’s been hard, but I’ve been putting in a lot of time and effort, and working hard, both on and off the field, while I’ve been gone. It’s not the same. I love football to death, but I think it’s meant more to be out here with my teammates, my brothers, my family, if you will, so that’s what has been really neat about being back out here.
"I’ve put a lot of thought into my life, decisions I’ve made in the past that I’ve been sitting at home thinking about things, and working closely with the Commissioner on ways to make changes, corrections. I’m looking forward to the second chance and the second opportunity, not just in football – because I think everybody knows what you’re going to get in football – but in life. I think that’s what is more important. I’m happy to be out here, and even kind of happy to see you guys again.
"Like I said I'm happy to be back out here, even kind of happy to see you guys again. So, maybe I'll take a question or two."

November 10, 2019 - Rams vs Steelers409 viewsMatt Freed captured this moment on the field between Ben and Dick Hoak.
Did you know?
“Chosen by the Steelers in the seventh round of the 1961 NFL Draft, Hoak had an impressive career, amassing 3,965 rushing yards in 1132 attempts (3.5 avg) with 25 touchdowns. He also caught 146 passes for 1,452 yards (9.9 avg) and 8 touchdowns. He was named to one Pro Bowl and led the team in rushing three times. He retired after the 1970 season as Pittsburgh’s number 2 all-time rusher, and is currently fifth all time in rushing yards out of all Steelers.
Hoak was hired by then-coach Chuck Noll as running backs coach in 1972, and served in that position for 20 seasons. He passed on the head coaching job with the USFL’s Pittsburgh Maulers when offered it in 1983. Noll retired in 1991, and Hoak was the only one of Noll’s assistants retained under his successor, Bill Cowher.
During his tenure, the Steelers rushed for over 30,000 yards (the only team to do so in this time period) and led the league in rushing yards three times. He was the position coach for Steeler greats Franco Harris and Jerome Bettis.â€

ESPN - The Magazine: December 1, 2008 Issue2377 viewsESPN - The Magazine introduced a series of stories entitled "Living Scared" about the fine line today's athletes walk with their fans, as well as the threats they recieve from others. Ben, the Jaguars Fred Taylor, the Redskins Clinton Portis, and the Titans Kevin Mawae are just a few of the players interviewed.
From the Article:
Ben Roethlisberger's public persona isn't limited to game days. The Steelers QB is a pitchman for Nike and a local car dealership—and his image adorns the bottle of his custom barbecue sauce. Which leaves Big Ben conflicted. Does his high profile give fans an invitation into his life? And if there's a line that shouldn't be crossed, where is it? With no easy answers, Roethlisberger, 26, is one of a growing number of players who uses bodyguards when going out. He says that, much like in a collapsing pocket, you sometimes can't tell what's coming until it's too late.

August 3, 2020 - Training Camp at Heinz Field157 views"I think any athlete, any competitor, will tell you they want to go out on their own terms. It doesn't happen all the time, we don't always get lucky. Whether that's trades, cuts, injuries, whatever that is. I think that if I felt that I was closer to the end, it might have been more of a decision for me to think longer about coming back or not. But I didn't feel that I was close to that yet. I'm not saying I've got 10 years left in me, but I definitely feel like I've got some really good years left in me. That was definitely a motivating factor, coming back and showing that I still have it in the tank. I still have a lot to give this team. I still have a lot to give the fans."And I just want to win Lombardis. And I say that with a plural on the end." -- Ben.
