"From the people to the campus to the football program, everything at Miami is to love. Oxford was like a home away from home for me, and I loved having the opportunity to help carry on Miami's football tradition while working towards that priceless Miami degree."

February 9, 2013 - Miami University Hall of Fame Induction Weekend2857 viewsRoethlisberger was Saturday’s headliner and spoke about his affection for Miami and the degree that he finalized in 2012. His last football season in Oxford was 2003, when the RedHawks went 13-1 and earned a No. 10 ranking by the Associated Press.
“I’m honored to be a graduate, to have my number retired, to be in the Hall of Fame now and to say that I went to Miami,†Roethlisberger said. “People all the time ask, why Miami? And I say obviously the academics and a chance to play early and Coach Hoeppner.â€
Of the bachelor’s degree in education that he picked up last May, the 30-year-old Findlay High School graduate said it was something he always hoped to obtain.
“It was a bigger goal early on, and then as you start getting sidetracked, offseasons get shorter and things are going on,†Roethlisberger said. “Having a son on the way — and now he’s here — it just kind of motivated me further to get it done and just to tell my son and hopefully more kids that I got my degree and how important education is.â€

February 9, 2013 - Miami University Hall of Fame Induction Weekend2335 views“Going in with him, it doesn’t get any better than that. It’s an honor to get in. But I owe so much to him, for my career, my life, and who I am as a person. A lot of it is because of him. I have always said he was like a father to me. He would be one of my best friends today. I still think about him a lot. To go in with him, it doesn’t get any more special than that.†– Ben

February 9, 2013 - Miami University Hall of Fame Induction Weekend2193 viewsBen poses with Cary Feltman, Justin Shigley, and Ian Sterner outside after the Induction Dinner in Oxford, OH.
Cary and his friends attended the Dinner and he had this to share about Ben's speech during the evening:
"It was very respectful of Coach 'Hep' and about how he was the reason he went to Miami University. [Talked] about the players that paved the way for him and the players that were to follow. He cracked some jokes about taking so long to graduate. Also before he stood up to do his speech, the lady that was announcing the players and giving a brief of their accomplishments before they would come up accidentally called him Brian Roethlisberger. So when he walked up to the podium he says, 'Sorry, Brian couldn't make it tonight, so I'm filling in for him.' He had the room laughing pretty good." -- Cary
*Thank you so much Cary!!
