September 18, 2015 - The 10th Annual Jerome Bettis "Bus Stops Here" Foundation Gala694 views“It is great to see him involved in his charity and doing great things in the community. The one thing I wanted to instill in all of those guys when I was there was it was about the community. They do so much for us that it was important and imperative that we do things and give back to the community.†– Jerome
“To me Jerome is a hero, a guy I tried to idolize on the football field, in the community. To be honored by him means a lot to me. It means a lot to me to be so involved in the community. Doing the grants for the dogs, giving over a million dollars to police, fire, search and rescue is something that is important to me. And the Make-a-Wish visits every game are so special. Then we get the letters talking about the wishes we provide through grants and it means a lot and is special in your heart.†– Ben

2012 Troy Polamalu Poynesian Luau1409 viewsBen poses with Nick Muna, who performed at the event.
From the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:
The lucky 425 guests who got their tickets early made their way to the Westin Convention Center Friday night where the call of conch shells and Kukui nut leis welcomed all.
A traditional luau performance by Netane Polynesian Entertainment and the Fiji and Common Kings provided an authentic South Seas soundtrack to the soiree as well as spectacular ceremonial dances.
Steelers No. 43, Troy Polamalu, with his wife, Theodora, and their sons, Ephraim and Paisios, mingled during cocktails with guests including 84 Lumber's Joe Hardy, Jan and Richard Piacentini, Dick Singer, Bill Baierl, Dr. Joseph Maroon and The Pittsburgh Foundation's Lindsay Aroesty.
The party benefited the Troy Polamalu Football Camp in American Samoa and the Harry Panos Fund of The Pittsburgh Foundation, named after Theodora Polamalu's grandfather, which helps military veterans. Sponsored by Head & Shoulders and the Citrone family, the evening featured lots of flowing locks and flowery shirts.
Many of Polamalu's teammates were among the guests, including Ben Roethlisberger, Ziggy Hood (with Sara), Rashard Mendenhall, Casey Hampton, Charlie and Latasha Batch, Jerome Bettis and Heath Miller. Ryan Clark (with Yonka) and WDVE-FM's Randy Baumann acted as official live auctioneers, with Brett Keisel and James Harrison jumping in to encourage some major bidding. "Polamalisa" -- a "Mona Lisa"/Polamalu hybird painting signed by Troy -- brought in $12,000.
