Football Digest, February 20052281 views"Roethislberger, our cover boy this issue, has been the biggest surprise of the season. Drafted this year with the 11th pick overall, the Miami of Ohio product has guided the Steelers back to prominence. While his numbers don't compare with those of, say super-QB Peyton Manning, he has played with a poise that belies his years. The Steelers weren't expected to do much of anything this year, but thanks in large part to the work of their rookie QB, they have emerged as a legitimate Super Bowl contender. Roethlisberger is a lock to win the Rookie of the Year award, and he'll get even better in future seasons."

BIG BEN'S Beguiling Boldness - November/December 2006 issue2243 viewsTim McNellie: "As a kid growing up you must have dreamed of football glory, of being an NFL star and winning a Super Bowl. Now you're there. How does the reality compare to what you'd imagined?"
Ben: "Well it’s funny because as a kid when you’re out in the street – and I was always throwing the ball as Joe Montana and catching it as Jerry Rice – I dreamed a lot about playing in the Super Bowl. What you don’t think about — and why would you, because you don’t know any better — is all the scrutiny that comes with it. You don’t think about living under a magnifying glass, you don’t think about all the interviews, all the extra pressure. All you think about normally is the game. You don’t think about all the extra things that go with it. But even with all that extra stuff, a Super Bowl is a Super Bowl, and that’s the goal of every NFL player."

November 13, 2007 - Ben named Steelers Player of the Week for Browns Game2195 views"Dramatic comebacks don't usually happen in the NFL without great play from the quarterback, and the Steelers got that from Ben Roethlisberger through the second half [of their game against the Browns].
During a second half that had the Steelers come back from a 21-9 deficit to win, Roethlisberger completed 13 of 17 for 170 yards, with two touchdowns and no interceptions for a passer rating of 146.7. He also ran for 40 yards, including a 30-yard touchdown.
He is the Steelers Digest Player of the Week.
Also considered were James Harrison, who forced two fumbles on defense and made two special teams tackles: Clark Haggans, who lead the special teams tackles: and Heath Miller, who caught five passes for 72 yards, including the game-winning touchdown."
