Ben with his family in Switzerland - 20062069 viewsThe U.S. Embassy was never closer to American Football than last Sunday evening: The famous Pittsburgh Steeler quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger (winner of the 2006 Super Bowl), attended a dinner in his honor at the Embassy's Residence in Bern. Before this dinner, the American Employees Association organized a "Meet and Greet" with the superstar. His visit to the Residence was a tremendous success. More than 40 people attended and it is not a surprise that more children hailed "Big Ben" than employees and their spouses. For the dinner, the Chargé d'affaires, Carol Urban invited the two quarterbacks from Switzerland's own football teams: the Bern Grizzlies' Mario Dini and the Bienna Jets' Kevin Keene. Earlier in the day, Ben Roethlisberger watched the Jets and the Grizzlies play a Swiss National Football League game, which was won by the Grizzlies 14-9.

August 4, 2011 - Training Camp2040 viewsLexi meets Ben.
"I was trying to get Pouncey's autograph when I saw Ben walking over. I walked over closer to where Ben was walking to and I got a spot right in front. I was patiently waiting my turn and then I felt this huge swarm of people behind me pushing me into the little fence. It felt like it was going to rip. The staff guy kept saying "stop pushing, he will get to you." Ben was right in front of me and I said 'Hi Ben, can I please get a picture with you?'
'He said, 'Sure, but let's take it as I sign things here. Just let me know when you're ready.' While he signed some more, I was trying to find someone to take our picture since my sister was behind the huge crowd and finally this nice guy behind me said he'd take it. Ben came back over and we took the picture. I then asked him if he could sign my jersey when he got a chance. He came over and signed the sleeve of my jersey really slowly lol. I said 'thank you so much!' and he looked right at me and smiled and said, 'You ARE welcome.' I can't believe I finally got to meet him. He was so sweet and probably signed for about 20 minutes and then went over and took pictures with all of these kids that were on the field."
*Thank you Lexi!
