815 viewsMy name is Matt August and I am a police sergeant in California. I was born a Pittsburgh Steelers fan in 1972 and have carried that love for the team through highs and lows. I am now raising my own family and they have also embraced my love for Steelers football. I am a huge Ben Roethlisberger fan and have several of his jersey's and am hoping I will be able to get one of his new Nike jerseys this year so that I can hang up my old Reebok jerseys. As you can see from our photo, we are a large family so making sure my entire family had jerseys has always been a priority for me rather than updating my own.

One of the things I admire and respect the most is his leadership of the team and his devotion to his family. I am also very appreciative of the many grants he provides to police departments to help fund police K9's. These dogs are a tremendous resource and asset but can be cost prohibitive for so many agencies so his awareness and commitment to helping agencies is truly awesome.

He is 9-years old and we have seen him mature over the summers because of the camp. This year, his sister was too old to participate, and he sort of missed her, but got to spend time with us. Since we are all from Ohio, and it's a 3-hour drive to the camp, we enjoyed our time alone with him. We highly recommend that grandparents bring their grandkids and leave the parents at home! Since this was a one-day camp, we really enjoyed the quiet time the next morning as we got packed and drove home. He even got to use his McDonalds french fry coupon he received at the camp on the Ohio Turnpike! It's been forever since I have spoken with you. I just want to let you know we have added a brand new member to Steeler Nation... Bentley "Ben" James Robert Goodson was born May 22, 2014. I wanted to introduce him to Steeler Nation and to Big Ben's website. I named him after our one and only. Bentley is such an amazing son.

I also wanted to share a quick story: Back when I was going into the 8th grade, I was in a horrible four-wheeling accident around the same time Ben was in his bike accident... Reason why I'm such a fan is, to me he is a great role model and at the same time we shared a scary moment together with the wreck but we came back strong!
