Ben: “All I care about is wins and Super Bowls”
From Ron Cook, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:
Ben Roethlisberger stood in a quiet hallway outside the locker room early Monday morning, the roars from the big crowd at Heinz Field on Joe Greene Night still ringing in his ears. He had just set an NFL record for the second consecutive game, yet he wanted to talk only about the 43-23 win against the Baltimore Ravens, the Steelers’ 6-3 record, his linemen, wide receivers and running backs, the defense and special teams, “Mr. Greene” and the “awesome” fans. It seemed like the right time to ask: Would it really hurt you to toot your horn just a bit?
“There is no point in doing that,” Roethlisberger said. “This is the ultimate team sport. I’ve told guys before: ‘When you can score a touchdown on the football field by yourself, then you can celebrate and be that guy.’ It’s impossible to do. It’s a team game. It’s just fun for me to go out there and play ball with these guys.”
The best ball of his Hall of Fame-caliber career, actually.
Roethlisberger has led the Steelers to two Super Bowl titles. He still beats himself up for not playing better in a 31-25 loss to the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl XLV. Since he came into the NFL in 2004, his goal has been to win five championships, breaking Terry Bradshaw’s franchise record of four.
If Roethlisberger keeps playing this well, the Steelers will have a shot at getting to Super Bowl XLIX in February. Or maybe not. He said he has to play a lot better than he did against the Ravens.
Imagine that.

Ben is the first QB in NFL history to throw six touchdown passes in back-to-back games.
“It didn’t start out really pretty at all!” — Ben.
“I don’t think any of us are surprised by anything he does. We have been looking at it for some time.” — Coach Tomlin.
“You could have never sold me that during the week, even though he did it last week. He had a [heck] of a day. That’s a reflection on us all. You got to go out there and you’ve got to stop him no matter the situation.” — Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs.
From ESPN.com’s Stats & Info page:
Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger threw for six touchdowns for the second straight week. The Elias Sports Bureau notes that he’s the first quarterback to throw 12 touchdown passes in a two-week span.
Roethlisberger joined Y.A. Tittle (1962) as the only quarterbacks with a pair of games with at least six touchdown passes in the same season.
The only quarterback with more games with at least six touchdown passes in his career is Peyton Manning, with three.
“It means guys are catching touchdowns, and it’s fun because…especially that last one. I was so happy for Matt [Spaeth], that was such a big play for him and I was so excited for a guy that has been around a long time and that puts a lot of dirty work in, if you will, a lot of blocking – we don’t ask him to do a lot except block – for him to get that big touchdown and play, I was excited for him!” — Ben, on what the record means.
What was the standout stat from Roethlisberger’s past two weeks?
In Roethlisberger’s first seven games, he completed 45 percent of his throws that traveled at least 15 yards downfield.
Last week he was 8-for-11 for 209 yards and two touchdowns on those throws.
Sunday, he was more efficient, 6-for-9, with five touchdowns thrown at least that far.
Roethlisberger made great use of his primary target, Antonio Brown, who had 11 catches for 144 yards.
Antonion Brown has at least 80 receiving yards in an NFL record 11 straight games.

From the Steelers’Burt Lauten this morning:

Ben sits down with Bob Costas to talk about last week’s game against the Colts, and tonight’s game against the Ravens. Game starts at 8:20 PM. Go Steelers!!
Can you tell me how to get to Sesame Street?
Uho! Elmo got lost when he went trick-or-treating tonight and somehow ended up at the Roethlisberger house.
Ben & Ashley thought he was so darn cute that they decided to keep him as their own. Elmo seems just fine with that idea, especially since he now has that baby sister he’s always wanted!
“My son has been wearing his Elmo costume…he’s going to be 2 years old next month, so he’s wearing his Elmo costume and he’s been wearing it all over the house, so we’re trying to get it off of him and tell him he’s not allowed to wear it until actual Halloween!” — Ben, during his interview yesterday with Mark Madden.
“Daddy, when do we get to eat the candy? Can we have it for dinner? It IS Halloween, afterall!” — Benjamin, Jr.
“All I have to do is pretend to be posing nicely for the camera and then reachhhh out and grab just this one bag of M&M’s….” — Baylee
“This is how it works Baylee – I’m older so I get to divide the candy: I get the M&M’s, the Snickers, and the Twix bars. You can have the Milky Way bars…no, you can have one Milky Way bar, I’ll uh…hold on to the rest for safekeeping.” — Benjamin, Jr.
“Mommy said I could wear my Elmo costume to bed!!! YESSSSSS!!!!” — Benjamin, Jr.
“Wait…what the…what happened to all that yummy candy? I look up and smile for one photo and now it’s all gone?” — Baylee
“I have to admit, I am totally rockin’ the baby bunny look!!!” — Baylee
Hoping you had a fun, safe and Happy Halloween, Steeler Nation!
It’s a Black & Ghoul Halloween!!!!
Which means it’s time to check out some great photos from Steeler Nation:

Ben poses with…er…I mean Ben look-a-like David Helmontaller (left) poses with a buddy from work dressed as a recipient of a Ben Roethlisberger Foundation grant (okay, not really), and Ben look-a-like John McFarland (right) poses with his buddy, Sadiq Hough, dressed as Coach Tomlin.
Several #7’s will be scrambling to find candy tonight:

6-year old Cohen Rogers insisted on dressing up as Ben for Halloween this year (doing that in Browns country isn’t easy). He’s doing his “Big Ben post-touchdown” impression for us.
Meghan Kamlowsky tells us her 2-year old son (top middle) loves Ben! “He watches him play every game! He pointed at Ben when I asked him what he wanted to be when he got big!”, said Meghan.
The two game-face dudes (top right) are Stone Cole as Big Ben & Shane Cole as Troy. They are all business so get them some candy!!
Bodie Decore and big sister Emmy Decore (bottom center) from Shawnee, OH can’t wait for it to get dark! Come on Halloween, lets get started!

The center photo came to us simply as “Mr. & Mrs. Troy”, who are very excited to be attending Sunday’s game against the Ravens from their home in Laguna Niguel, CA! have a great time Mr. & Mrs. Troy!
That’s Don & Paula Scholl in their Steelers best (Don, really?) attending a Halloween party.
