“You guys know me, I could care less about records. The records I want to get are Super Bowls….I’ve said many times, I’d rather throw five interceptions and still win the game, than throw five touchdowns and lose. I think all of us need to keep that mindset, that winning is number 1.” — Ben, when asked about breaking NFL & team records.

092016Following his teams 24-16 AFC North victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, Steelers Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger joined The Cook and Poni Show on Sportsradio 93.7 The Fan for his weekly #1 Cochran Ben Roethlisberger Show.

Despite getting the win and starting the season 2-0, Ben said after watching the tape, he saw some mistakes the entire team could work on.

“You know, I thought that there were a lot of mistakes by all of us, little ones,” Ben said. “Nothing major, there weren’t a bunch of mistakes on one particular play.”

There was an expectation that the game between the two bitter rivals might turn ugly last week, to the point where the league put its officials on notice. Ben told us what it was like on the field between the two teams and how he feels today.

“You know what it felt like? It felt like a good AFC North football game. It was physical. I mean, I’m super sore today, a lot of us are sore. It was hard-fought. There was nothing cheap, there was nothing dirty that I saw…none of that.”

Despite getting the victory, it wasn’t a great statistical day for the Steelers offense and Ben was asked about how Antonio Brown feels after games like that as it has been speculated that he could have one of the best statistical seasons for a wide receiver in league history.

“AB’s going to get his catches, he’s going to get his yards because he’s the best in the business and we all know that. We just need AB not to get down if he has a game like this,” Ben said. “He knows he’s the best, we all know he’s the best…and he wants to break records, I mean records are meant to be broken. It’s awesome when you do it. It’s awesome when you help teammates break records but at the end of the day, I think AB just wants to win a championship.”

Things wrapped up with Ben as he looked ahead to next weeks matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles, a place he has yet to record a victory.

Ben has only played in Philly once in his career and doesn’t have great memories of that game.

“I’m not a big ‘remembering games’ type guy, especially losses, but that’s one that I do remember vividly. I remember getting sacked 8 or 9 times. I remember driving home from the airport after that game and thinking to myself, ‘do I want to keep doing this? Do I really want to keep playing football.”
