Will the real #7 please stand up…

“Just an amazing and well worth it day. To meet and walk down the fairway with Big Ben, who was just an amazing guy. Dream come true for these 3 Members of #SteelersNation”. — Jamie Van Dusen.

“This picture of the 3 of us in Ben’s jersey is a special one. It has my uncle, who is like my dad. His name is Doug Van Dusen. My father passed away of a heart attack when I was 13, and Doug stepped right in as a mentor and father figure. Sadly he has been diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer that has spread to his liver. Long story short, we have been long time die Hard Steeler fans, and especially Big Ben. Doug even named his (now rainbow bridge dog) Ben after him. This was a dream come true to be able to meet Ben and the day was magical.
The other doppelgänger of Ben, is my buddy Brian who is also my neighbour and long time Steeler (Ben) fan.”

More photos from Jamie:

“Being in Canada, I never thought we would have the chance to meet him and see him that close. The event was simply awesome and so entertaining. If you do speak to him, tell him I want his hat.”

“The picture of him with the thumbs up was when my buddy Brian, jokingly asked Emmitt to move out of the way so we could get a better shot of Ben! Haha!”

“Getting the chance to walk the course with him. I wish I could have found his ball for him on 18. Lol!”

“Once we found out Ben was coming, Doug and I hopped on tickets, then I told Brian about it and he was in. From that moment we had decided to wear his garb and be fitted with our Ben jerseys and terrible towels. Ben was so gracious in taking a photo with us and signing our stuff.”

“Lastly, I just want to thank him again for being so gracious and hope we put the Steelers Ottawa Chapter […]

Izzy vs Jack:

“This is Baby Izzy channeling her outer Jack Lambert face!” — Suzanne Chawala-Holt.

Jack vs Vayda:

“My husband and I have always been huge Steelers fans, and even bigger Ben fans! Something we wanted to share with you and thought you guys would enjoy, is a picture of my daughter, Vayda, who put on our Steelers helmet and reminded us of someone we knew but couldn’t put a finger on it… until we did! Hope you enjoy!!” — April Taylor.

Hey! Who snuck this one in?

Becky Schrum did! A side-by-side of her 9-month old and Coach Cowher.

Now Thomas doesn’t want a face-off, he wants a face-to-face…and then wants to stuff his face, lol:

Jason Edmondson @JEdmondson5
My 9 year old’s dream dinner guest = @_BigBen7 and his dream dinner is carry-out from @primantibros. This dude bleeds black & gold 😀

Remembering the reason

Today is Memorial Day – and Wreaths Across America wants to make sure we all know the difference!

And it’s never too early to sponsor a wreath for a fallen soldier’s grave during the Christmas holiday season!

Memorial Day may herald the start of summer vacations for many, but donations are already being accepted for the 2022 National Wreaths Across America Day, which is scheduled for Saturday, December 17th, 2022.

From their website:

“Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day, our mission to Remember, Honor and Teach is carried out by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as at more than 2,500 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad.”

Who We Remember:

“From the Revolutionary War to present day conflicts, our veterans are devoted sons and daughters, fathers and mothers, sisters and brothers. They come from all backgrounds in life to place those lives on the line for our freedoms. There are millions of individual stories to tell. Get to know them by viewing the 4,760 recent posts made by our supporters or sponsor a wreath in honor of or in memory of an American hero.”

Where We Remember:

“Wreaths Across America coordinates wreath-laying ceremonies at more than 2,500 locations across the United States, at sea and abroad. Click below to find a location near you.

If you don’t see a location near you, Wreaths Across America will support you in becoming a Location Coordinator for a cemetery in your area. There is no cost to become a participating location and host a Wreaths Across America ceremony.”

When We Honor:

“While coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies each December on National Wreaths Across America Day is a big part of what we do, our mission to Remember, Honor and Teach is carried out throughout the year. From our Remembrance Tree program to the Wreaths Across America Museum in Maine, there are many different ways in which you can get involved!”

If you would like to sponsor wreaths to be placed on the graves of our military this December, now is the time!
