From Ben’s radio show this morning on 93.7 The Fan:

112116_1The Steelers ended their four-game losing streak with a 24-9 win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. At times, it didn’t look pretty and some feel that they played down to the Browns.

“People can say what they want, but we won the game and that is all that matters,” Roethlisberger said. “We’ve heard it this year and we’ve heard in years’ past how we play down to the level of competition, or we don’t win the games we’re supposed to win. Well, we won that game, one I thought we were supposed to win, an AFC North game at their place in hostile weather and environment. I don’t think people will be talking about it in that sense, but we were happy we got the win and that is what really matters.”

Roethlisberger did admit that they could have been better in the red zone early. However, some of the credit has to be given to what the Browns were able to do.

“We have been this year one of the top offenses in the red zone, so it’s not like we have red zone issues. So, I will look at that game thinking they (Browns) must have done some really good things in the red zone,” Roethlisberger said. “Yeah, we will kick ourselves for not scoring down there because we felt we could have put that game away a lot sooner.”

It was a much-needed win that ended a four-game skid, but there is not much time to enjoy this one because they have to get ready to play the Indianapolis Colts on Thanksgiving.

112116The win tied Roethlisberger with Derek Anderson in most wins by any quarterback in Cleveland since the franchise returned to the NFL in 1999.

“I can’t wait to be able to break that record,” Roethlisberger said.

Roethlisberger admits that the schedule makers did them no favors in having to play back-to-back road games in a span of five days, but they can’t make excuses.

“They (Colts) have a home-and-home,” Roethlisberger added. “But, we’re not going to complain. If we want to be a playoff caliber team and be able to go on the road in the playoffs, we have to be able to make adjustments and that is what we have to do this week.”
