“Just getting in some practice for Big Ben’s golf tournament at the end of this month. Honored at the friendship Ben and I have established, and looking forward to being a part of this great day.” — Brian Cooper, Steelers fan and Golf Channel’s ‘Big Break Greenbriar’ & ‘NFL’ series competitor, pictured below.

BrianCooper_1You’ll start with pre-tournament games from the creative mind of Justin Aquilante at ProServ Events! And it doesn’t stop there!

As you make your way around the course, you’ll have the opportunity to try your hand at other competitions like Poker & Roulette Golf, a Men’s and Women’s Long Drive, the Straight Drive, and a TPC Sawgrass “Island Green” hole.

You’ll enjoy both a lunch buffet and dinner in the clubhouse after the tournament.

OTA news, notes & quotes

“I love being out here. I love the game. I feel younger than ever.” — Ben

Ben spoke after Week 2 of OTAs about the no-huddle offense –

June52014_1“I think it’s something that we’ve realized what we can be and what we did last year. We’ll use it more. I don’t want to call it our base offense, but I think you’ll see more of it, so I think it was important for us to get in it early and often…We’re not going to score on every series that we go no-huddle.”

What he sees on the offense so far –

We have a lot of speed. That’s running the ball, that’s throwing the ball…whatever it is. I just want us to be fast and I want us to put a lot of points on the board.

His love for the game –

“I’m excited about this team and the direction we’re headed.”

And his response when asked his thoughts on Colin Kaepernick’s contract –

“Congratulations to him and his family and the 49ers franchise. We’re on opposite sides of the coast. I’m over here just worried about being a Steeler and that’s all that matters with me. It’s just about getting better out here with these guys.”

You can watch & listen to his interview here.

“Moore Impressed With Big Ben”

From Mark Kaboly at the PittsburghTribune-Review today:

Lance Moore has been working with Ben Roethlisberger on the field for only a couple of weeks, but has been impressed with what he has seen.

“He makes sure that if I have any questions that I come straight to him,” Moore said. “He is an extension of a coach out there, and it is easy to get answers from him.”

You can read more here.

More from Moore…

“Moore not finished yet”

From Chris Bradford at the Beaver County Times:

June52014For Moore, the chance to work with Ben Roethlisberger was just an opportunity too good to pass up.

“It’s exciting, you’ve got a guy that’s won two Super Bowls, been to another, it doesn’t get any better than that,” Moore said. “The one thing he knows how to do is throw the ball. It’s exciting to come here and be a receiver and get the opportunity to catch balls from […]

A different kind of Warrior Wednesday

Who better to be the Men’s Heath magazine cover model for November, the same month that we celebrate Veterans Day, than U.S. Army veteran Noah Galloway –

“Men’s Health Magazine is looking for someone to put on the cover of November’s issue. It’s a contest where the most votes wins the ‘Guy Search’, and I have just thrown my hat into the ring.” — Noah

Noah_HP
Long-time readers of the site know this Warrior, but we thought it would be a good time to introduce him to our newest readers:

On December 19, 2005, Sgt Noah Galloway lost his left arm above the elbow and left leg above the knee in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack in Yusafiah, Iraq. He was quickly transported to Germany to receive medical treatment and was unconscious for five days. Noah woke up late in the evening on Christmas Eve to find out he had lost two of his limbs, and had also sustained several injuries to his remaining leg and his jaw. He was then transferred to Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C where he began his long road to recovery.

Since then – he has been non-stop! Noah travels around the country to participate in races, challenges, tough mudders, and other extremely challenging events. He also completed the Marine Corp Marathon.

In March of 2012, Noah had just completed the White Sands Missile Range 23rd Annual Bataan Memorial Death March in New Mexico. On his way home from this grueling “event” while waiting for his flight at the airport, he was approached by a tall man who looked surprisingly like Big Ben – and a friendship was born:

Not only was he a special guest at Steelers training camp last summer, but he even helped Shear Da Beard this past winter!

“Thank you for all the ongoing support. Ever since the first time I was on Ben’s site I have gotten numerous new fans on my Facebook page and kind messages from a lot of them. I have been shown so much love from Steeler Nation and thankful for all of it.” — Noah

Steeler Nation, let’s keep Noah in FIRST PLACE for the next month and a half for this Men’s Health cover contest! Cast your votes here!
