“A win is a win to me, that is all that matters. I don’t care what my stats are as long as we win the football game. I did feel during the game I wasn’t playing my best football. I know the stats are one thing, but I felt like I left some plays out there. It was probably the adrenaline early, so I missed a couple of early throws, but I think we all calmed down, myself especially, as we moved on to the ladder parts of the game. The Steelers are coming off a very convincing 43-23 win over the rival Baltimore Ravens. It’s the Steelers third straight win at home and has them right in the thick of the AFC race.

Roethlisberger followed up his record-setting day over the Indianapolis Colts with another 6 touchdown performance over the Ravens.

Ben told the guys the win over the Ravens felt even more sweet knowing it was at home in front of the Heinz Field crowd on the night when they honored the greatest Steeler ever, when they retired Mean Joe Greene’s No. 75 at halftime.

“To do it on primetime, at night against a division opponent on Joe Greene night, how much more special does it get?” Roethlisberger said. “To see all of those towels waving and the energy that came out of that stadium. To be able to win for the fans and make it just an extra special night was awesome.”

Roethlisberger told the guys he was disappointed only in the fact that since the ceremony was at halftime he didn’t get to see much of it, but did take the opportunity to congratulate Greene and ask him to sign his program that featured the legendary Steeler on the cover.

The Steelers offensive outburst over the past three games (scoring 124 points) may have silenced those fans and members of the media who were calling for offensive coordinator Todd Haley to be fired.

For the second straight week, Ben has won AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors for his performance, this time against the Baltimore Ravens last Sunday!

This marks the 11th time that Roethlisberger has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Week, the first time he has been honored in consecutive weeks and the third time he has won the award multiple times in a season (Weeks 5 and 8 in 2011, Weeks 10 and 16 in 2007).

Ben Roethlisberger stood in a quiet hallway outside the locker room early Monday morning, the roars from the big crowd at Heinz Field on Joe Greene Night still ringing in his ears. He had just set an NFL record for the second consecutive game, yet he wanted to talk only about the 43-23 win against the Baltimore Ravens, the Steelers’ 6-3 record, his linemen, wide receivers and running backs, the defense and special teams, “Mr. Greene” and the “awesome” fans. It seemed like the right time to ask: Would it really hurt you to toot your horn just a bit?

“There is no point in doing that,” Roethlisberger said. “This is the ultimate team sport. I’ve told guys before: ‘When you can score a touchdown on the football field by yourself, then you can celebrate and be that guy.’ It’s impossible to do. It’s a team game. It’s just fun for me to go out there and play ball with these guys.”

The best ball of his Hall of Fame-caliber career, actually.

Roethlisberger has led the Steelers to two Super Bowl titles. He still beats himself up for not playing better in a 31-25 loss to the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl XLV. Since he came into the NFL in 2004, his goal has been to win five championships, breaking Terry Bradshaw’s franchise record of four.

If Roethlisberger keeps playing this well, the Steelers will have a shot at getting to Super Bowl XLIX in February. Or maybe not. He said he has to play a lot better than he did against the Ravens.

Ben is the first QB in NFL history to throw six touchdown passes in back-to-back games.

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger threw for six touchdowns for the second straight week. The Elias Sports Bureau notes that he’s the first quarterback to throw 12 touchdown passes in a two-week span.

Roethlisberger joined Y.A. Tittle (1962) as the only quarterbacks with a pair of games with at least six touchdown passes in the same season.

The only quarterback with more games with at least six touchdown passes in his career is Peyton Manning, with three.

“It means guys are catching touchdowns, and it’s fun because…especially that last one. I was so happy for Matt [Spaeth], that was such a big play for him and I was so excited for a guy that has been around a long time and that puts a lot of dirty work in, if you will, a lot of blocking – we don’t ask him to do a lot except block – for him to get that big touchdown and play, I was excited for him!” — Ben, on what the record means.

What was the standout stat from Roethlisberger’s past two weeks?

In Roethlisberger’s first seven games, he completed 45 percent of his throws that traveled at least 15 yards downfield.

Last week he was 8-for-11 for 209 yards and two touchdowns on those throws.

Sunday, he was more efficient, 6-for-9, with five touchdowns thrown at least that far.

Roethlisberger made great use of his primary target, Antonio Brown, who had 11 catches for 144 yards.

Antonion Brown has at least 80 receiving yards in an NFL record 11 straight games.
